HAARLEM – Honkbalweek Haarlem has confirmed the full field for the upcoming tournament, to be held this summer at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem. The Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, and the United States of America will battle it out for the title in 2022. The organization committee is excited that it was able to bind these six ‘classic’ Honkbalweek nations to its tournament.
Tournament director Léon Ravestein is elated to host such a competitive field for this year’s event. “We set the bar high for our field of participants for our 30th anniversary edition of the tournament. We have therefore requested all participating countries to send their strongest possible teams to Haarlem. The road to confirming these six amazing teams was long and stressful, but as the tournament director I am both incredibly proud that we got it done and thankful to the teams and associations for doing everything they could to make this happen”.
Chairman Guus van Dee also shared his excitement for this group of participating teams. “We have our dream line-up! We have been working tirelessly since September 2018 to make our anniversary edition as special as possible. By signing these six amazing baseball countries, from three different continents, to our tournament, we have met our goal. The best of what Asia, the Americas and Europe have to offer when it comes to baseball will be coming to Haarlem in 2022. All the ingredients for a spectacular tournament are there. We cannot wait.”
