The Italian national baseball team will once again be participating in this year's Haarlem Baseball Week. Italy and Haarlem Baseball Week have a close connection: the Italians are present at the Pim Mulier Stadium in almost every edition.
The Italian team, known to baseball fans worldwide as the Azzurri, currently ranks 14th in the WBSC baseball world rankings, a feat that underscores Italy's status as one of the top teams in Europe. In the summer of 2025, the Italians reached the final of the European Championship in Rotterdam, which was won by Team Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Historically, both the Dutch and Italian national teams are among the best baseball countries in Europe. The mutual confrontations in Haarlem are therefore invariably an attractive prospect for players, coaches, and supporters. Tournament director Peter Herkemij responds enthusiastically to the Azzurri's renewed participation:
“A true classic. Italy has been a fixture and trusted name on the Baseball Week program for decades. Historically, Italy and the Netherlands are the leading baseball countries in Europe. We once again warmly welcome Italy to the Pim Mulier Stadium and are already looking forward to the always tense encounter with our Kingdom Team.”
Baseball Week is a biennial baseball event in which six national teams are invited by Baseball Week to participate. The tournament will take place between June 26 and July 4, 2026. The WBSC-accredited event is part of Haarlem's intangible heritage and attracts tens of thousands of fans to the Pim Mulier Stadium every year. Regular ticket sales for Baseball Week Haarlem will start on February 26 via this website. Season tickets are already available.
