HAARLEM – Haarlem Baseball Week has finalized the roster of participants for the upcoming tournament. From July 8 to 15, 2022, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, and the United States will face off at the Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem. The organizing committee is delighted that, following the cancellation of the 2020 edition, it has been able to secure the participation of these six “traditional” Baseball Week teams once again.
Tournament Director Léon Ravestein is delighted with the commitments from all six baseball nations. “The bar was set high for securing participants for the 30th edition. We wanted our anniversary edition to be of an ambitious standard. We therefore asked the invited countries to travel to Haarlem with their strongest possible lineups. The road to securing these six top nations was long and stressful, but as tournament director, I am genuinely proud of the result and grateful that the federations from the participating countries did everything in their power to make this possible. Starting July 8, we’ll get to see the best baseball in Europe: a huge baseball celebration!”
Baseball Week Chairman Guus van Dee is also thrilled. “We’ve secured the dream lineup! Since September 2018, we’ve been working to make our anniversary edition special. We’ve achieved our goal—six top nations from three continents—100%. It’s a tremendous boost for our organization, which has worked so hard to bring the best possible teams to Haarlem. Japan & Taiwan: Asia’s best. Cuba & USA: America’s best. Italy & the Netherlands: Europe’s best. The key ingredients for a successful tournament are in place; we can’t wait!”

PARTICIPANTS IN BASEBALL WEEK 2022
Team Kingdom of the Netherlands: As usual, the Netherlands will field its A-team in Haarlem. National team coach Evert-Jan ’t Hoen will announce his final roster at a later date.
Team Italy: Thanks to the suspension of the Italian league during Baseball Week, national team manager (and Major League Hall of Famer) Mike Piazza also has the strongest possible roster at his disposal.
Team Japan: As usual, Japan will once again field one of the top teams from the national baseball system in 2022. The reigning Honkbalweek champion will travel to Haarlem with one of the strongest college teams in the country.
Team Chinese Taipei: In 2018, Chinese Taipei surprised everyone by reaching the tournament final with an experienced team. It looks like a college team will be coming to Haarlem again this time.
Team Cuba: The Cuban team is traveling to Haarlem with the Serie Nacional champions, Alazanes de Granma, supplemented by other stars from Cuba’s top league.
Team USA: After a brief absence from Baseball Week, Team USA returns to Haarlem with the Collegiate National Team (CNT), the top college team in the U.S.
