HAARLEM, Nov. 16, 2023 – Baseball Week Haarlem has announced the fifth participant for the 31st edition of the tournament. Following Japan, Team USA, Chinese Taipei, and Team Kingdom of the Netherlands, reigning European champion Spain will now travel to Haarlem from July 12 to 19, 2024, joining a strong field of participants.
Tournament director Peter Herkemij is thrilled to have secured the participation of the Southern European teams. “Spain has proven itself to be a formidable opponent in international baseball in recent years, culminating in a European title in 2023. So Baseball Week is thrilled to have them on board.”
Spain will participate in Baseball Week Haarlem for the first time ever in 2024, adding an extra European dimension to the event. Fans can look forward to a sporting showdown between Spain and Team Kingdom of the Netherlands. The team, led by national coach Evert-Jan ‘t Hoen, will undoubtedly be eager for revenge after losing in the semifinals of the European Championships in the Czech Republic earlier this year.
The organization hopes to announce the sixth and final participating country soon, which will complete the field of participants.
