On October 20, we received the sad news that Willem Hurkmans had passed away at the age of 76.
As a volunteer, Willem was invaluable to the baseball and softball community in Haarlem and the surrounding areas.
At his own club, Terrasvogels in Santpoort, and also for Baseball Week, he devoted decades
with great passion for the sport. Whether installing a water line, getting the equipment in order, or preparing the field
for the next match, Willem was always ready to lend a hand. And of course, as always,
wearing his unmistakable wooden clogs. Baseball Week wishes his wife, children, other family members, and
friends much strength in coping with this loss.
