HAARLEM – Baseball Week Haarlem has rounded out the field of participants for the upcoming tournament. From July 8 to 15, 2022, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Cuba and the United States will compete at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem. The organizing committee is pleased that, after the cancelled edition in 2020, it was able to re-engage these six “classic” Baseball Week participants.
Tournament Director Léon Ravestein is pleased with the commitments of all six baseball nations. “The bar for capturing participants for the 30th edition was high. We wanted our anniversary edition to be of an ambitious level. We therefore asked the invited countries to travel to Haarlem in the strongest possible composition. The road to capturing these six top countries was long and stressful, but as tournament director I am sincerely proud of the result and grateful that the federations from the participating countries went all out to make this possible. Starting July 8, we will get to see the best baseball in Europe: a big baseball party!”
Baseball Week President Guus van Dee is also elated. “The dream field is in! Since September 2018, we have been working to make our anniversary edition special. Our target of six top countries from three continents has been met 100%. It’s a great boost for our organization, which has worked so hard to bring the best possible teams to Haarlem. Japan & Taiwan: Asian top. Cuba & USA: American top. Italy & Netherlands: European top. The main ingredients for a successful tournament are in; we can’t wait!”
